Farm Advisor

Boyne Rivers Trust (BRT) is an environmental charity to the conservation and protection of the Boyne River catchment. The vision of the Trust is for a Thriving River Catchment, valued and protected by its communities’. The aim of the trust is to protect, enhance and restore the water bodies of the Boyne catchment through community-led projects and activities. Job Summary The Farm Advisor will work with farmers, across the Boyne catchment, to identify potential changes in agricultural and land management practices, intended to bring about improved water quality and freshwater habitats at a catchment-scale, whilst also benefiting farm businesses. The post-holder will undertake one-to-one farm visits, working with landowners to identify ways to reduce the risk and impact of diffuse and point-source water pollution from agriculture. This will be done through non-regulatory farmyard and field assessments to identify possible water protection measures and the production of bespoke farm water management plans. The Farm Advisor will also aim to raise awareness, improve understanding and acceptance amongst farmers and land managers of diffuse and point-source pollution from agriculture and its impact on water quality and the wider water environment. Engagement with farmers in the Boyne catchment will seek to create, through a voluntary approach, a sense of ownership and achievement within the farming community in relation to improving water quality and water dependent species and habitats in the catchments across the Boyne Rivers Trust’s operational area. Data & Evidence Officer

This is a new role at Don Catchment Rivers Trust, and an exciting opportunity to help the Trust realise it’s ambition of becoming more data led and improving how we use data and evidence to inform our projects and priorities. We are looking for someone that can help us set up systems and processes for data gathering across our staff and citizen science volunteer teams and pull together existing river related data sets to create a good understanding of the health of our rivers. This understanding of the catchment will help inform priority locations and themes for projects and action. We want the Trust’s collective knowledge to help communicate our mission to the wider public. Our new Data & Evidence Officer will create visually appealing and accessible ways of communicating data and help across the staff team to produce mapping and evidence for inclusion in reports, papers and funding applications. Agricultural Officer

This is a role full of potential to work with farmers and landowners in the Don Catchment. We are seeking a candidate with experience, knowledge, and/​or a background in farming or land management, to support farms in improving water quality, river habitats and catchment resilience. Our new Agricultural Officer joins the Trust at an exciting time. The Yorkshire River Trusts hub have started the Yorkshire Agricultural Advice for Rivers Network’ (YAARN, funded by Yorkshire Water)) to bring together best practice and learning opportunities. Our new person will be DCRTs lead for YAARN, contributing to the Communities of Practice and promoting the work of the River Trust with farmers and stakeholders across Yorkshire. The post-holder will work to raise awareness and improve understanding of diffuse and point source agricultural pollution and its impact on water quality and the wider environment. They will work collaboratively with fellow officers to bring together and support new farm clusters, and provide knowledge and insight about how best to bring about positive change for our rivers. Through the formation of new farming clusters and the provision of individual tailored advice and support, this role aims to promote improvements in farming practices that benefit the water environment. Our new Agricultural Officer will work closely with the host farmer of the already established Dearne Valley Farm Cluster to identify works suitable to be delivered with the Trust’s Dearne environmental fund, and give the DVFC support for a continuing programme of events and training. Catchment Partnership Manager

Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust (ESRT) is an independent environmental charity dedicated to improving and protecting rivers and estuaries across Essex and Suffolk. About the role We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to provide strategic direction and leadership across our catchment partnerships and wider partnerships the ESRT is involved with. The Catchments Partnerships Manager role is central to shaping and delivering collaborative action to improve river health, biodiversity, water quality, flood resilience and climate adaptation across Essex and Suffolk. You will be known throughout our partners, volunteers and wider communities as someone who champions change for our rivers, wetlands and coasts. The role will be to lead the development of our partnerships, coordinate integrated catchment planning, and ensure priorities translate into meaningful on-the-ground outcomes. This includes producing a Catchment Plan for East Suffolk, supporting delivery of the existing Essex Rivers Hub Catchment Plan, and developing action plans across key focus areas such as climate resilience and community involvement. Galloway Fisheries Trust 6‑month internship

A paid internship is available from April to October 2026 (26 weeks) to work with Galloway Fisheries Trust on the Solway Invasive Non-Native Species INNS Control and Knowledge programme Phase 2. INNS are a significant threat to native biodiversity, ecosystems and local economies by outcompeting and shading native species, increasing the risk of erosion to riverbanks as they die back in the winter thus increasing the risk of flooding. INNS such as Giant hogweed can also have direct negative impacts to our health due to phototoxic sap causing skin burns. Galloway Fisheries Trust is a conservation charity working on fish populations, their habitats and water quality across the freshwaters of Galloway. The successful applicant will be involved in delivering INNS control, work with schools and communities to increase knowledge of INNS. Key items of work that the intern will assist with delivering include: Assist the Project Officer in strategically controlling priority plant INNS through on-site surveys, control. This will involve travelling to site, walking/​wadding along watercourses and applying herbicide (spot treatment) to priority INNS.Deliver the INNS education project to increasing awareness and knowledge of INNS in schools (both primary & secondary).Help create links within local communities and recruiting volunteers.Foster and develop a close working relationship with key stakeholders and interested parties in your key responsibility areas.Assist in the overall dissemination of GFT work to a wider audience particularly using social media.
