One of the national network of Rivers Trusts, we are focused on the Arun, Rother and Western Streams Catchments in West Sussex — home to a range of special and rare species and habitats, including sea trout and otter and rare chalk streams. Our aim is to help improve local water quality and river habitats which are under pressure from climate change, pollution, water abstraction, development and more. As our Trust matures and grows, we recognise the need to strengthen our board of Trustees, specifically with fundraising experience. As a Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of our riverscapes. You’ll work alongside a dedicated group of individuals to protect and preserve this vital ecosystem. Farm Advisor

Boyne Rivers Trust (BRT) is an environmental charity to the conservation and protection of the Boyne River catchment. The vision of the Trust is for a Thriving River Catchment, valued and protected by its communities’. The aim of the trust is to protect, enhance and restore the water bodies of the Boyne catchment through community-led projects and activities. Job Summary The Farm Advisor will work with farmers, across the Boyne catchment, to identify potential changes in agricultural and land management practices, intended to bring about improved water quality and freshwater habitats at a catchment-scale, whilst also benefiting farm businesses. The post-holder will undertake one-to-one farm visits, working with landowners to identify ways to reduce the risk and impact of diffuse and point-source water pollution from agriculture. This will be done through non-regulatory farmyard and field assessments to identify possible water protection measures and the production of bespoke farm water management plans. The Farm Advisor will also aim to raise awareness, improve understanding and acceptance amongst farmers and land managers of diffuse and point-source pollution from agriculture and its impact on water quality and the wider water environment. Engagement with farmers in the Boyne catchment will seek to create, through a voluntary approach, a sense of ownership and achievement within the farming community in relation to improving water quality and water dependent species and habitats in the catchments across the Boyne Rivers Trust’s operational area. This project will restore 75 km of rare urban chalk stream habitat and connect over 20,000 people with their local rivers through hands-on conservation, education, and citizen science. As Development Lead, you will shape the Trust’s first Engagement Strategy, coordinate an extensive community consultation programme, and manage the London Volunteering and Engagement Programme. You will also oversee delivery partners and help develop a major funding application for the next phase of work. Finance and Grants Assistant

About The Role We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East Rivers Trust’s Finance and Operations Team. We are a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation. The successful applicant will come from a financial background with a strong understanding of financial principles, an accounting qualification and proficiency in Excel. They will be a self starter, with experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. The role would suit an individual, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team. The role involves liaising and following up with all teams to ensure the data provided is accurate and timely, to support grant applications, payments and audit requirements. To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, be proactive and have excellent communication skills, following up and advising staff across all teams. They will need to have a positive attitude, and willingness to assist the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required. This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week, (on a Thursday), working in the office in Leatherhead. This is a part time position, (of 3 to 4 days per week), to include Monday and Thursday. There may be a requirement to pick up additional hours to support with busy periods.
